Who is Palm Beach Database?
In many ways, Palm Beach Database (PBDB) is a small database development shop, located in Delray Beach, Florida, owned and operated by Matthew E. Jones. In other ways, PBDB is a large software firm, well capable of delivering complete solutions to a Fortune 500 company. Here at PBDB, our focus is on providing the client the best of both worlds.
PBDB has formed strong alliances with other local independent software developers, affording our clients all the resources of having a large development firm, while still having the response time and attention they would expect from a smaller outfit. An auxiliary benefit of this business model, is the client effectively obtains “contractor redundancy”. Just like backing up your important files, we feel strongly that you should not be at the mercy of a single individual or company – many clients find us, only after their previous contractor went out of business, or otherwise left them “high and dry”.
While our specialty is Access to SQL Server conversions, we do offer a wide array of Access and SQL-related programming and development services. At PBDB, our overhead is low, and our expertise is high. It’s all about applying our real-world experience, to get the job done, with proven techniques, and no wasted effort. 
Matt Jones' Personal Qualifications
Matt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He previously worked at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing), as both an Aerodynamicist and Flight Test Engineer, where he became adept with mainframe database programming and analysis tools. Upon successful completion of the C-17 Flight Test Program at Edwards Air Force Base in 1994, Matt left Boeing to pursue PC software design with former classmates from Boulder. It was during this time, that Matt began working with Microsoft Access and Visual Basic, while supporting solutions for local Denver-area companies. In 1997, Matt returned to his native Palm Beach County, establishing a client base of his own. As the clients and projects quickly grew in size, Matt began implementing solutions using Microsoft SQL Server in 1998. In 2000, Matt officially incorporated to form Palm Beach Database.
Our Role in your Development Project
The vast majority of our work is done remotely, which is by no means hindering - in fact our offices are the ideal environment for programming productivity, and product testing. In this age of broadband and VPN, we are never more than a few clicks away from being on a client’s network.
As you can see from our portfolio, our client base is composed of growing companies from throughout the country. Many of our clients already have IT departments and even programmers, yet simply lack the critical personnel and experience needed to develop and deliver a cutting-edge, robust, and scalable database application within a desired timeframe. Our client databases currently range from 5-user/5 MB Access-based file/server systems, to 100 user/1 GB+ SQL Server-based client/server, multi-tiered transactional systems.
